About the Role

Sirius Staffing is currently hiring a Meter Specialist for a full-time, 6-month contract position based onsite in New Orleans, LA. Pay Range: $ 22.90 to $34.12 per hour Schedule: Monday- Friday. 8a-5p Responsible for supporting advanced testing and operations within an Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) Engineering Lab. This is a hands-on role ideal for candidates with electrical, utility, or technical lab experience who enjoy troubleshooting, testing, and working with smart grid technologies. You will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy, performance, and reliability of electric and gas meters, directly supporting utility operations and smart grid innovation. Key Responsibilities: Perform functional testing of electric meters, including Remote Connect/Disconnect (RCD), communications, and ANSI accuracy standards. Support RMA (Return Material Authorization) processes, including intake, inspection, testing, sorting, and shipping. Manage meter inventory, tracking, and documentation using Meter Management Systems (MMS) and AMI applications. Assist with RF mesh network devices (access points, relays, repeaters) testing and troubleshooting. Coordinate with supply chain, logistics, and field teams to ensure timely processing of returned equipment. Maintain and calibrate lab testing equipment. Support operations of electric and gas meter test environments (“meter farm”). Participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for new meter technologies and firmware updates. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within lab operations. Assist with storm restoration efforts as needed. . Requirement : High School Diploma or equivalent. Hands-on experience with electrical systems, meters, or testing equipment. Familiarity with tools such as multimeters, scopes, or calibration equipment. Basic understanding of electricity and circuits. Valid driver’s license with a good driving record . Preferred: Experience with AMI meters or utility operations. Knowledge of RF communications or mesh networks. Forklift experience or certification. Ability to read electrical diagrams and schematics. Experience with meter testing systems (WECO, TESCO) . Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability. Comfortable working in a lab and warehouse environment. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
