Sub Agent - Civil Engineering (Contract)Location: Stratford, East London Day Rate: £450 - £500 per day (Inside IR35) Contract Type: Contract Start Date: 25 January 2026 Industry: Civil Engineering / Water / InfrastructureThe opportunityAn experienced Sub Agent is required to support the delivery of civil engineering and infrastructure works on a live project in Stratford, East London. This is a hands-on site role suited to a Sub Agent who understands how to run sections of work properly, manage subcontractors, maintain programme and cost control, and uphold high standards of safety, quality and compliance. If you're comfortable operating on busy sites, working under NEC contracts, and supporting delivery teams on complex infrastructure projects, this will be a strong fit.The roleYou'll be responsible for managing small-value civil engineering works or supporting the Site Agent and Project Manager on larger schemes, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme and to specification. You'll act as a key link between site teams, subcontractors and the wider project delivery function.Key responsibilitiesSite & Project DeliveryManage day-to-day site activities and sections of workSupport programme planning, monitoring and deliveryInterpret drawings, specifications and construction informationProvide engineering and technical support to the site teamChair site meetings and contribute to client reportingEnsure accurate records, site diaries and as-built informationHealth, Safety, Environment & QualityPromote safe working practices and site complianceEnsure inductions, competencies and permits are in placeMaintain HSEQ documentation and QA recordsManage inspections, audits and defect-free handoverLiaise with third parties and statutory bodies as requiredCost & Resource ControlSupport cost planning, forecasting and commercial performanceManage site resources and subcontractors effectivelyMaintain accurate records for labour, plant and materialsChallenge inefficiencies and drive best value on siteRequired experienceProven experience as a Sub Agent or Section Engineer / Senior Engineer stepping upStrong civil engineering background (ideally infrastructure or water)Working knowledge of NEC contracts, CDM regulations and construction programmesExperience managing subcontractors and site teamsAbility to read and challenge drawings and resolve technical issuesCSCS cardSMSTSDegree or HNC in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)Full UK driving licenceDesirable experienceWater or utilities project experienceTemporary Works Co-ordinatorNEBOSH or IOSHConfined space or service avoidance trainingExperience on major frameworks or long-term programmesWhat's on offer£450 - £500 per day inside IR35Long-term contract potentialWell-structured project with clear scope and supportImmediate impact role Start date confirmed: 25 January 2026ApplyIf you're a Sub Agent looking for a solid contract role on a live civil engineering project in East London, apply now or get in touch for a confidential discussion.
