Justteachers are recruiting for Cover Supervisors to work across a range of secondary schools in Leeds, with both full-time and flexible opportunities available. We are looking for confident, enthusiastic, and adaptable Cover Supervisors to support secondary schools across Leeds. Whether you’re seeking a full-time role or the flexibility to work in different school settings, this is a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable experience within education while making a real difference to students’ learning.

As a Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising lessons in the absence of the class teacher, ensuring students remain engaged with the work provided and maintaining a positive learning environment. This role is essential to the smooth running of schools and is ideal for individuals with experience working with children or young people.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff.
  • Deliver pre-planned lessons and ensure students complete assigned work.
  • Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies.
  • Maintain a focused, safe, and positive learning environment.
  • Support students with their learning and answer questions where appropriate.
  • Take attendance and report any issues or concerns to relevant staff.
  • Promote high standards of behaviour, attendance, and engagement.
  • Follow safeguarding and child protection procedures at all times.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching and support staff across the school.

 

Pre-requisites:

  • Experience working with children or young people is essential.
  • Previous experience in a school, education, youth work, coaching, mentoring, or similar setting is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Confidence in leading and managing groups of students.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with young people.
  • Good behaviour management skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Flexible, reliable, and adaptable approach to work.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
  • Right to work in the UK.
