As a Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising lessons in the absence of the class teacher, ensuring students remain engaged with the work provided and maintaining a positive learning environment. This role is essential to the smooth running of schools and is ideal for individuals with experience working with children or young people.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff.
- Deliver pre-planned lessons and ensure students complete assigned work.
- Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies.
- Maintain a focused, safe, and positive learning environment.
- Support students with their learning and answer questions where appropriate.
- Take attendance and report any issues or concerns to relevant staff.
- Promote high standards of behaviour, attendance, and engagement.
- Follow safeguarding and child protection procedures at all times.
- Work collaboratively with teaching and support staff across the school.
Pre-requisites:
- Experience working with children or young people is essential.
- Previous experience in a school, education, youth work, coaching, mentoring, or similar setting is highly desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Confidence in leading and managing groups of students.
- Ability to build positive relationships with young people.
- Good behaviour management skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Flexible, reliable, and adaptable approach to work.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
- Right to work in the UK.
