37.5 hours per week

Up to £50,000 per annum dependent on experience

We are seeking an experienced and motivated General Scrub Clinical Lead to join our dynamic theatre team at our Oxford Hospital. This is an exciting leadership opportunity within a busy department comprising six operating theatres, delivering a wide range of specialties including ophthalmic, ENT, maxillofacial, vascular, plastics, and general surgery.

As a Clinical Lead, you will play a key role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of perioperative care, while driving innovation and continuous improvement across the department.

You will be tasked to :-

  • Provide strong clinical leadership and day-to-day management of a scrub team
  • Act as a role model for professional practice, maintaining high standards of patient care
  • Support the effective coordination and flow of theatre activities, including taking on co-ordinating roles
  • Work collaboratively with theatre management to ensure efficient and productive theatre utilisation
  • Ensure compliance with: National and local policies, NATSSIPs (National Safety Standards for Invasive Procedures), WHO Surgical Safety Checklist
  • Lead on quality improvement initiatives, service development, and new projects
  • Support staff development through mentorship, training, and performance management
  • Contribute to maintaining and enhancing the hospital’s reputation for excellence in surgical care
  • Adapt to and support implementation of electronic rostering and patient record systems

What are we looking for?

We are looking for a confident and forward-thinking practitioner who can inspire and lead a team effectively. You will be a registered healthcare professional NMC/HCPC with:-

  • Significant experience as a Scrub Practitioner across multiple specialties
  • Proven leadership and team management experience
  • Strong understanding of theatre operations, workflows, and coordination
  • Knowledge of clinical governance, policies, and national safety standards
  • Experience with NATSSIPs and WHO checklist compliance
  • Competent in IT systems and confident adapting to digital transformation
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills
  • Previous experience in a clinical lead or senior role
  • Experience leading service improvement or change projects
  • Holds a surgical first assistant qualification.
