Autism Support Assistant - Grantham

About the role:

justteachers are currently recruiting for a full-time Autism Support Assistant position within a specialist provision in the Grantham area, starting in September on a long-term basis.
This is a rewarding opportunity to support children and young people with Autism Spectrum Condition within a specialist educational environment. The provision offers highly personalised support and structured learning programmes designed around individual EHCP outcomes, helping pupils develop communication, independence, social skills and confidence.
The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff and specialist professionals to help pupils access learning, manage routines, and achieve positive educational and personal outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

Providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils with autism
Supporting the delivery of personalised learning activities and interventions
Promoting communication, social interaction and independence skills
Using visual supports, structured routines and autism-friendly strategies
Supporting pupils with emotional regulation and engagement in learning
Implementing EHCP targets and individual support plans
Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists and support staff
Assisting pupils during transitions and throughout the school day
Monitoring and recording pupil progress, wellbeing and engagement

Pre-requisites:

Experience working with children, young people or adults with autism or additional needs
Candidates from education, care, support work, residential care or similar backgrounds
A patient, calm and consistent approach
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
An understanding of autism-friendly approaches and structured support strategies
The ability to adapt support to meet individual pupil needs
A genuine passion for helping young people achieve their potential

As part of our safeguarding and compliance process, we require a minimum of two professional references covering the last two years in full, along with an Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
