<strong>Company: FMCG Manufacturing Company </strong><br><strong>Role: EHS Manager </strong><br><strong>Location: Newbury, West Berkshire </strong><br><strong>Salary: £60,000 - £68,000 per annum + package which includes 10% bonus, 5% pension, 33 days holiday, EV Scheme and private healthcare</strong><br> <br>An excellent opportunity has arisen at a leading UK manufacturing organisation, based at one of its key facilities in Newbury West Berkshire. They are seeking an passionate and proactive Environmental Health and Safety Manager for a large, complex, fast-paced site. As part of the site leadership team, you’ll lead large-scale projects, including at group level, and evolve the site safety culture —empowering the team, building confidence, ownership, and a further embedding proactive behaviours. This company is supportive, structured, family orientated and well invested company. <br> <br><strong>Duties: </strong><br><ul><li>Be the subject matter EHS expert for the site, providing the site leadership with competent advice, guidance.</li><ul><li>To promote a positive safety culture, ensures compliance with UK EHS legislation, and drives continuous improvement to prevent accidents, injuries, and work-related illnesses.</li><li>Coach and mentor 1x direct report</li><li>Ensuring environmental compliance, manages EHS budgets, and aligns site operations with Group EHS standards and strategies.</li><li>Develop and implement an effective EHS Management System to reduce business risk, accidents, incidents, environmental incidents and ill health.</li><li>Promote a culture of safety responsibility and create an environment where the workforce are empowered to challenge unsafe behaviors.</li><li>Manage monthly EHS inspections and ensure timely follow-up on corrective actions.</li><li>Drive continuous improvement through EHS projects and engage colleagues in change initiatives.</li><li>Manage EHS training programs, including in-house sessions, and support managers in identifying training needs.</li><li>Ensure risk assessments are conducted, reviewed, and updated regularly; advise on control measures.</li><li>Investigate accidents and near misses, ensuring corrective actions are implemented and reported under RIDDOR where required.</li><li>Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, insurers, and enforcing authorities (e.g., HSE, Environment Agency, Thames Water and the Local Authority).</li><li>Issue the agenda and take minutes regarding the Site EHS Committee and maintain emergency response plans, including regular drills.</li><li>Ensure compliance with all relevant EHS legislation, codes of practice, and company policies.</li></ul></ul> <br><strong>Personality fit: </strong><br><ul><li>Self-motivated and confident person</li><ul><li>Change agent who can engage and empower others and drive accountability/ ownership.</li><li>Able to collaborate, influence, gain buy -in with strong communication skills</li></ul></ul> <br><strong>Essential qualifications and background: </strong><br><ul><li>NEBOSH Certificate with experience in a manufacturing environment</li><ul><li>Experience in directly coaching and mentoring a team and managing a complex and fast paced manufacturing site</li><li>Knowledge and prior experience of CDM projects in a manufacturing environment</li><li>Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.</li><li>Proficiency in MS Office and EHS management software systems (e.g., Evotix).</li><li>Ability to analyse complex data and provide actionable insights.</li></ul></ul> <br>Interested?
