Outdoor SEMH Instructor - Nelson

About the role:

Justteachers is recruiting for an Outdoor SEMH Instructor to join a specialist Alternative Provision in the Nelson area on a long-term basis.

The full-time post is due to start in September 2026, with shortlisting currently taking place.

This provision is dedicated to supporting pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs through experiential, outdoor-based learning. With a strong focus on therapeutic approaches and personal development, the team uses nature and adventure to re-engage learners and build resilience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Planning and delivering outdoor education sessions tailored to SEMH learner
• Supporting pupils in developing emotional regulation, teamwork, and confidence through outdoor activities
• Collaborating with teaching and pastoral staff to ensure consistent, trauma-informed support

Pre-requisites:

• Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs
• A passion for outdoor learning and therapeutic education
• Relevant qualifications or a willingness to undertake training in outdoor education and behaviour support
