Setting Out Engineer

<h1 data-section-id="19yh6li" data-start="172" data-end="188"><span data-mce-mark="1">Role Overview</span></h1> <p data-start="208" data-end="563">We are seeking a motivated and experienced Civil Engineer to join an expanding construction and civil engineering team. The successful candidate will play a key role in the planning, design, coordination, and delivery of a wide range of civil engineering projects, including infrastructure, groundworks, drainage, highways, and reinforced concrete works.</p> <p data-start="565" data-end="953">This role requires strong technical expertise, excellent organisational and problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage and support projects safely, efficiently, and within programme and budget requirements. The position will involve both office-based engineering duties and regular site visits across North Wales to provide technical support and setting out services to site teams.</p> <h2 data-section-id="18w7bso" data-start="955" data-end="978">Key Responsibilities</h2> <ul data-start="980" data-end="2853"> <li data-section-id="h4xs9a" data-start="980" data-end="1093">Plan, coordinate, and oversee civil engineering and construction projects from inception through to completion.</li> <li data-section-id="aae2xz" data-start="1094" data-end="1192">Prepare, review, and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and engineering calculations.</li> <li data-section-id="ztrne5" data-start="1193" data-end="1311">Ensure works are delivered in accordance with project specifications, quality standards, and programme requirements.</li> <li data-section-id="16gw4ax" data-start="1312" data-end="1435">Liaise with site managers, subcontractors, clients, consultants, and local authorities to ensure smooth project delivery.</li> <li data-section-id="qygjkj" data-start="1436" data-end="1538">Ensure full compliance with health &amp; safety legislation, company procedures, and industry standards.</li> <li data-section-id="yws3n0" data-start="1539" data-end="1630">Conduct regular site inspections and monitor progress, quality, and technical compliance.</li> <li data-section-id="1b5srov" data-start="1631" data-end="1698">Provide technical support and resolve engineering issues on site.</li> <li data-section-id="1y7e9i8" data-start="1699" data-end="1781">Assist with project planning, cost control, and programme management activities.</li> <li data-section-id="199qbjk" data-start="1782" data-end="1908">Manage and support works relating to drainage, highways, foundations, reinforced concrete, and infrastructure installations.</li> <li data-section-id="1xnptg9" data-start="1909" data-end="2032">Extract and transfer setting out information from DWG files to surveying equipment and excavator machine control systems.</li> <li data-section-id="s3b5ba" data-start="2033" data-end="2282">Carry out setting out for: <ul data-start="2064" data-end="2282"> <li data-section-id="1phfuci" data-start="2064" data-end="2088">Deep drainage pipework</li> <li data-section-id="1bmn5yu" data-start="2091" data-end="2132">Foul and surface water drainage systems</li> <li data-section-id="1p1i4dp" data-start="2135" data-end="2172">Internal and external plot drainage</li> <li data-section-id="1v22bij" data-start="2175" data-end="2197">Roads and kerb lines</li> <li data-section-id="1tudimb" data-start="2200" data-end="2224">Hard landscaping works</li> <li data-section-id="smm7v7" data-start="2227" data-end="2282">House plots and block &amp; beam foundation installations</li> </ul> </li> <li data-section-id="10z6xsa" data-start="2283" data-end="2392">Record accurate as-built information for drainage, roads, sewers, tree pits, and associated infrastructure.</li> <li data-section-id="e6ydn3" data-start="2393" data-end="2516">Produce and maintain QA documentation and as-built records for submission to clients, contractors, and local authorities.</li> <li data-section-id="1q0wnzm" data-start="2517" data-end="2595">Record and monitor precise locations, levels, and depths of installed works.</li> <li data-section-id="126jnqa" data-start="2596" data-end="2703">Prepare and submit weekly progress and engineering reports to Contracts Managers and Technical Directors.</li> <li data-section-id="32dzrc" data-start="2704" data-end="2853">Travel to multiple project sites across North Wales to support site teams with setting out, levels, excavation areas, and engineering requirements.</li> </ul> <h2 data-section-id="ve5yd8" data-start="2855" data-end="2880">Candidate Requirements</h2> <ul data-start="2882" data-end="3633"> <li data-section-id="wrv8ni" data-start="2882" data-end="2970">Degree, HND, or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.</li> <li data-section-id="1czbj3q" data-start="2971" data-end="3073">Previous experience within civil engineering, groundworks, infrastructure, or construction projects.</li> <li data-section-id="1gq4qkg" data-start="3074" data-end="3160">Strong understanding of drainage, highways, foundations, and setting out procedures.</li> <li data-section-id="13hl79" data-start="3161" data-end="3243">Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and DWG files.</li> <li data-section-id="1vywmeu" data-start="3244" data-end="3333">Experience using GPS, total stations, surveying equipment, and machine control systems.</li> <li data-section-id="1rarmhv" data-start="3334" data-end="3407">Knowledge of QA procedures and production of accurate as-built records.</li> <li data-section-id="1uohsqr" data-start="3408" data-end="3475">Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.</li> <li data-section-id="hbk31q" data-start="3476" data-end="3546">Ability to work independently and collaboratively within site teams.</li> <li data-section-id="1vcmtop" data-start="3547" data-end="3573">Full UK driving licence.</li> <li data-section-id="9sxftn" data-start="3574" data-end="3633">Willingness to travel regularly across North Wales.</li> </ul> <h2 data-section-id="l2sjds" data-start="3635" data-end="3671">Skills &amp;
