About the Role
Teaching Personnel are seeking a committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist education setting in Yeovil on a full-time supply basis (32 hours per week). This rewarding role involves supporting pupils aged 4 to 18 who have Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and complex additional needs.
You will work under the guidance of experienced teachers to help create a stable, supportive and engaging learning environment, enabling pupils to reach their individual learning and personal development goals.
Students in this specialist setting may have a range of needs, including: Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Physical disabilities and complex medical needs, Communication and interaction difficulties and Social, emotional and behavioural challenges
Support is provided both 1:1 and in small groups, helping pupils access the curriculum and build independence.
Key Responsibilities
Support pupils with literacy, numeracy and classroom activities
Encourage engagement, confidence and positive behaviour
Assist with personal care and mobility support where required
Help prepare learning resources and maintain a safe classroom environment
Work alongside teachers and therapists to support pupils’ learning targets
Support pupils during activities, educational visits and daily routines
Requirements
Have at least 6 months childcare experience, ideally supporting children with SEN
Be patient, compassionate and resilient
Be confident supporting pupils with additional learning or physical needs
Work well as part of a team in a specialist school environment

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
