Early Years Teaching Assistant Peterborough

About the role:

We are seeking a nurturing and enthusiastic Early Years Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Peterborough from September 2026. This is a full-time, temporary position on a long-term supply basis for the full academic year.

The successful candidate will support children within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), helping to create a positive and engaging learning environment where pupils can develop socially, emotionally, and academically. Key Responsibilities:

• Support the delivery of engaging EYFS activities and learning opportunities.
• Assist pupils with their learning, development, and daily routines.
• Promote positive behaviour and encourage social and emotional development.
• Support the class teacher in preparing resources and maintaining an effective learning environment.
• Observe and monitor pupil progress, providing feedback to teaching staff where required.

Pre-requisites:

• Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
• Proven experience of working within an Early Years or primary school setting.
• Strong knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
• Two education or school-based references.
• A sound understanding of child development and early learning strategies.
• A patient, caring, and proactive approach to supporting young children.
• An enhanced DBS check on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
