Job Description
DUTIES: Provide technical leadership in designing, developing, and deploying embedded software platforms and firmware in an Agile development environment, using C and C++ within Linux OS; work with audio and video codecs including MPEG2, MPEG4, and VP9; use media streaming protocols including DASH and HLS to decode data segments at different bitrates; debug embedded software and firmware, including Kernel debugging using Ftrace and KGDB, and application debugging using GDB, GSTPLAY, and AV pipeline utilities; develop Software on Chip (SoC) chipsets for embedded video products; work with Netflix SDK and YouTube Cobalt framework; perform CI/CD using Jenkins, Github, and similar CI/CD tools; support applications under development and customize current applications; assist with the software update process for existing applications, and roll-outs of software releases; analyze, test, and assist with the integration of new applications; document all development activity; research, write, and edit documentation and technical requirements, including software designs, evaluation plans, test results, technical manuals, and formal recommendations and reports; monitor and evaluate competitive applications and products; review literature, patents, and current practices relevant to the solution of assigned projects; collaborate with project stakeholders to identify product and technical requirements; conduct analysis to determine integration needs; work with the Quality Assurance team to determine if applications fit specification and technical requirements; and guide and mentor junior-level engineers. Position is eligible to work remotely one or more days per week, per company policy.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field, and five (5) years of experience designing, developing, and deploying embedded software platforms and firmware in an Agile development environment, using C and C++ within Linux OS; of which three (3) years include working with audio and video codecs including MPEG2, MPEG4, and VP9; using media streaming protocols including DASH and HLS to decode data segments at different bitrates; debugging embedded software and firmware, including Kernel debugging using Ftrace and KGDB, and application debugging using GDB, GSTPLAY, and AV pipeline utilities; developing Software on Chip (SoC) chipsets for embedded video products; working with Netflix SDK and YouTube Cobalt framework; and performing CI/CD using Jenkins, Github, or any other similar CI/CD tool.
