Chief Product Architect

Role: Chief Product Architect Salary: Depending on Experience Location: Cambridgeshire, on-site With a strong focus on mission critical communications, this is a unique opportunity to shape the technical vision of an innovative product suite that powers the future of secure, connected communication systems. You’ll be responsible for driving the architecture, design and delivery of complex, multi-technology products – from initial concept to large-scale manufacture. Key Responsibilities Lead the overall technical architecture and design across Electronics, Mechanics and Software for new and existing product lines Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Design Authorities and Engineering Leads to translate business requirements into robust, scalable architectures Own the full product lifecycle from concept and prototyping through to production and volume manufacture Champion innovation by identifying and integrating new technologies and methodologies Guide and mentor product architects and engineering teams, embedding high standards for design, integration and quality Act as a trusted technical advisor to stakeholders and ensure alignment with strategic objectives Drive optimisation, performance, and scalability improvements across product lines Ensure all architectural documentation, design decisions and quality standards are clearly defined and maintained Skills & Experience Required 10+ years in product engineering, with at least 5 years in a senior architectural or technical leadership role Strong multi-disciplinary background across electronics, mechanical, and software engineering Proven experience in high-availability, mechanically robust product design for volume manufacture In-depth knowledge of communications technologies (4G/5G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NTN) and networking/real-time communication protocols (e.g. VoIP, SIP, MCX) Expertise with Qualcomm cellular or IoT modems, RF engineering, high-speed digital design, and PCB layout Experience with embedded software (Linux, Android), cloud technologies (AWS, Docker), and programming in Java, Python or C++ Strong leadership, mentoring and decision-making skills Excellent communication and documentation abilities Degree or equivalent experience in engineering or a related field Desirable Experience in mission critical communications or related sectors Familiarity with AI/ML integration within communications platforms Keywords Product Architecture, 4G, 5G, Embedded Systems, RF Design, Qualcomm, IoT, Linux, Android, AWS, Mission Critical Communications, Leadership
