About the Role
<h3><strong>Job Purpose:</strong></h3>
<p>The Systems Engineer oversees and coordinates the work of technical teams on systems projects, ensuring the successful design, implementation, operation, and technical management of those projects.<br />
Taking a holistic approach to systems engineering, the Systems Engineer ensures that all aspects of a system project are considered and addressed.<br />
The Systems Engineer works closely with stakeholders to understand their needs and then develops and documents technical requirements that meet those needs.<br />
The Systems Engineer leads the design team in developing a system architecture that meets all of the requirements.<br />
After the system is designed, the Systems Engineer oversees the implementation of the system, working with the implementation team to ensure that it meets all of the requirements.<br />
Once the system is deployed, the Systems Engineer manages the technical aspects of the system, including monitoring performance, troubleshooting problems, and making improvements.</p>
<h3><strong>Key Responsibilities:</strong></h3>
<ul>
<li>Facilitate product or system requirements gathering and analysis with sponsors and other key stakeholders.</li>
<li>Verify systems engineering product life-cycle components to include definitions, requirements analysis, synthesis, systems analysis and implementation.</li>
<li>Conduct product or system design synthesis translating requirements into physical architectures for systems of moderate complexity to include defining and refining internal and external interfaces.</li>
<li>Develop and contribute to technical reports and diagrams detailing product or system attributes.</li>
<li>Analyze product or system functionality as defined by requirements</li>
</ul>
<h3><strong>Additional Responsibilities:</strong></h3>
<ul>
<li>Perform the role of a project engineer supporting technical direction to the team and translation of technical efforts into program management products.</li>
<li>Design embedded software for embedded systems including both core and application software.</li>
<li>Develop system and software requirements and design.</li>
<li>Translate between project management intent and technical direction to the development team.</li>
<li>Create project schedules (MS Project) and project plans from customer requirements and tasking.</li>
<li>Manage MS project schedules including status, resource leveling, and critical path.</li>
<li>Develop and enforce system and software development processes.</li>
<li>Support the project manager in day-to-day project management with development team and customer.</li>
</ul>
<h3><strong>Required Minimum Qualifications:</strong></h3>
<ul type="disc">
<li>Experience with development of embedded military systems software in C/C++ and/or Ada.</li>
<li>Experience development system requirements and design products.</li>
<li>Experience developing MS project schedules status, resource leveling, and critical path.</li>
<li>Experience leading agile development teams.</li>
<li>Experience developing spend plans and tracking financial data.</li>
<li>Experience leading technical development projects covering systems engineering and software development.</li>
<li>Experience integrating multiple subsystems.</li>
</ul>
<h3><strong>Preferred Qualifications:</strong></h3>
<ul>
<li>Active Secret Clearance.</li>
<li>Experience using MBSE using Cameo.</li>
<li>Experience with Atlassian products.</li>
<li>Experience with GitLab or similar CM tools.</li>
<li>Experience interfacing with customers for both technical and project management aspects.</li>
<li>Experience integrating subsystems in complex military systems.</li>
<li>Experience with Tactical Data Links and/or Electronic Warfare.</li>
</ul>
<h3><strong>Travel Requirements:</strong></h3>
<ul>
<li>10% - 25% travel.</li>
</ul>
<h3><strong>Education and Length of Experience:</strong></h3>
<ul>
<li>5-9 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or any technical degree.</li>
<li>3-7 years of related experience with a Masters’ degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or any technical degree.</li>
<li>0-4 years of related experience with a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or any technical degree.</li>
</ul>
<h3><strong>Clearance Type Required:</strong></h3>
<p>Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain an active security clearance.</p>
