Senior M&E Estimator
Location: Ware, Hertfordshire
Salary: £70,000 – £80,000 + Bonus
Role Summary
Senior M&E Estimator required to take ownership of estimating across a range of commercial, industrial, and infrastructure projects.
This is a hands-on role with a strong electrical bias, focused on pricing, cost planning, and managing full tender processes. You will play a key role within pre-construction, working closely with senior leadership to deliver accurate, commercially sound bids.

Specialist M&E contractor delivering Electrical, Mechanical, Fire, Security, Data & Communications projects across commercial, industrial, infrastructure, education, and custodial sectors.
The business operates across technically demanding projects, working with Tier 1 and Tier 2 contractors, developers, and end clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed M&E estimates from small works through to £1m+ packages
- Review drawings, specifications, ERs, and tender documentation
- Build full cost plans including labour, materials, plant, prelims, subcontractors, and risk
- Issue and analyse supplier and subcontractor RFQs
- Identify commercial risks, scope gaps, and value engineering opportunities
- Support tender clarifications, submissions, and client discussions
- Define clear assumptions, exclusions, and scope boundaries
- Ensure structured handover to delivery teams
- Support development of estimating systems, templates, and cost libraries
Requirements
Essential
- Proven background in M&E estimating (electrical bias preferred)
- Experience across commercial and/or industrial projects
- Strong understanding of tendering and cost planning
- Able to work autonomously and take ownership of estimates
- Commercially aware with strong understanding of margin and risk
Desirable
- Experience working with Tier 1 or Tier 2 contractors
- Design & Build project experience
- Experience mentoring junior estimators
