PMLD Teaching Assistant

ABOUT THE ROLE As a PMLD Teaching Assistant, you will: Support pupils with severe and complex learning difficulties, including physical, sensory, and communication needs Assist with personalised learning programmes under the guidance of the class teacher and therapy teams Provide 1:1 and small‑group support Use a range of specialist equipment and communication methods (e.g., PECs, sensory resources) Support with personal care, feeding, and mobility needs where required Help create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating learning environment ✅ THE IDEAL CANDIDATE Experience working with PMLD, SLD, ASD, or complex needs (school, residential or care settings welcome) Calm, empathetic, and resilient nature Willingness to support personal care and manual handling A passion for helping vulnerable learners reach their potential Team player with good communication skills Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply) WHAT THE SCHOOL OFFERS Supportive leadership team with strong SEND experience A friendly, collaborative staff community Ongoing training and CPD opportunities Modern facilities including sensory rooms, therapy spaces, and assistive tech
