About the Role

1. People Management ? No direct supervisory responsibility however may be requirement to assist in induction and training of peers and new employees. 2. Resident & Community Contribution ? Demonstrate an understanding of the Councils Customer Care Standards and ensure that these standards are understood by staff and met in order to deliver the Councils vision of putting our residents first. 3. Operational Service Delivery ? Take responsibility for the creation and delivery of a caseload of person-centred decant plans and plans for returning tenants. ? Inform tenants of the service offer as an integral part of the decant process and encourage and support them to participate at a level and pace which maximises their engagement. ? Draft and issue statutory notices as directed in the context of decanting tenants. ? Follow operational practice in relating to the processing of Home Loss and Disturbance payments to residents and ensure appropriate records are maintained. ? Using the Council's financial systems and approved contractors, arrange removals, disconnections / reconnections as necessary to decant tenants and enable returning tenants to move back with minimum rent loss to the Council. ? Undertake ongoing housing needs surveys to ensure that data is both accurate and up to date and supports the decant programme. last update 05/03/2021. evaluated 23/03/2021 ? Proactively track casework to manage risk and ensure that key milestones are delivered on time. ? Support vulnerable tenants and households who may struggle practically to meet the demands of the decant programme. ? Work collaboratively with tenants and household members to meet underlying and unmet needs which could have the potential to impact on successful decant outcomes. ? Support vulnerable tenants in making what they perceive to be difficult decisions and engender self-awareness and responsibility for their relocation to suitable alternative accommodation. ? Develop and maintain a mature, comprehensive and effective partnership network which can be drawn upon to support the needs and requirements of decanting and returning tenants. ? Reflect the ethos of every decant matters as an integral part of day to day decant casework. * Be persistent in the engagement of individuals who are harder to reach by using assertive, creative and practical engagement strategies. * Attend case conferences, review meetings and other meetings as required in order to maximise the potential for successful outcomes. * Maintain timely and concise case records and written reports that evidence the work undertaken and the progress achieved in relation to decanting and returning tenants. * Ensure that monitoring and statistical information regarding casework undertaken is up to date and available. * Strive to deliver the ethos of getting it right first time and every time in the context of delivering high quality decant services. 4. Service Planning & Development ? To contribute to the development and implementation of the Team Plan and understand how the Decant Officer role supports the delivery of the plan and broader strategic Housing objectives. ?
