About the Role

Trigyn has a contractual opportunity for a Storage & Backup Administrator. This resource will be working Remotely. Job Description: A technically experienced infrastructure specialist with a minimum of 7 years of hands-on operational experience supporting enterprise storage and data protection platforms in production environments. The role requires solid working knowledge of multi-vendor storage ecosystems, including NetApp ONTAP-based systems, Dell block storage platforms, CEPH, Fibre Channel SAN environments using Cisco MDS, and enterprise backup solutions centered on Avamar and Data Domain, complemented by familiarity with hybrid/cloud backup integrations. The consultant is expected to possess practical competence in SAN protocols (FC, iSCSI), file services (NFS/SMB), and object storage services (S3-compatible platforms), storage provisioning, backup lifecycle management, and troubleshooting across storage and connectivity domains. Experience operating within structured enterprise IT environments, maintaining documentation, and collaborating with cross-functional infrastructure teams is required. The consultant will work under close supervision, following established procedures, standards, and technical direction while contributing to day-to-day administration and support of storage and backup services. Scope of Work / Duties of Consultant: • Administer the Client’s Storage and Backup Infrastructures’ Systems • Provide technical support for the client storage and backup infrastructures’ users (Connectivity, performance, troubleshooting, storage, backups, etc.) • Manage the backup clients, schedules and retentions • Monitor and evaluate the performance of storage and backup services • Coordinate the replacement of failed Backup, Storage & SAN components, and service restoration • Create and maintain detailed technical and graphical documentation as needed • Develop/update tools and scripts to improve and automate the administration of the Storage and Enterprise Backup operations • Lead complex projects involving storage solutions and products for mid-large environments • Provide on-call rotation-based support outside of business hours • Perform other duties as required Required Technical Skills: The resource MUST have the following skills and experience: The consultant must demonstrate proven hands-on experience in enterprise storage and backup administration across heterogeneous environments, specifically including: Enterprise Storage Platforms • Demonstrable administration and troubleshooting experience with multi-vendor enterprise storage arrays, with emphasis on: o NetApp ONTAP environments (FAS, vNAS/file/object services, SolidFire) o Dell PowerStore or equivalent block storage platforms o CEPH • Experience performing provisioning, performance troubleshooting, lifecycle maintenance, and incident resolution in production environments SAN & Storage Transport Technologies • Strong working knowledge of storage networking concepts and technologies • Hands-on administration of Cisco MDS Fiber Channel fabrics • Ability to troubleshoot end-to-end connectivity issues between hosts and storage Replication & Host Integration • Solid technical understanding of: o Storage replication and data protection technologies o Host integration and best practices o OS-specific storage tuning and performance considerations Backup & Data Protection Platforms • Extensive experience installing, configuring, and administering enterprise backup platforms, including Dell EMC Avamar and Dell EMC Data Domain and Veeam backup and replication. • Experience managing policies, retention, client onboarding, and recovery workflows • Working familiarity with disk-based and tape-based backup architectures Networking Fundamentals • Practical understanding of enterprise networking fundamentals relevant to storage operations, including Ethernet switching concepts, TCP/IP stack behavior, Routing basics and Link aggregation (LACP) The resource SHOULD have the following skills and experience: The following capabilities are considered advantageous: • Hands-on experience developing scripts or automation workflows using PowerShell, Python, Bash, Ansible or similar automation frameworks • Experience with Microsoft 365 backup solutions such as AvePoint and Spanning • Exposure to Software Defined Storage (SDS) platforms • Working knowledge of Linux administration and Microsoft Windows Server environments • Familiarity with virtualization platforms such as VMware Required Soft Skills: • Produces reliable, high-quality results within agreed timelines and takes ownership of assigned responsibilities. • Proactively drives tasks to completion, prioritizes effectively, and responds constructively to operational demands. • Communicates clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders and produces concise technical documentation when required. • Works effectively with cross-functional infrastructure teams and vendors in support of operational and project objectives. • Applies structured analytical thinking to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues. • Operates effectively within controlled enterprise environments and adheres to established processes and procedures.
