Biopesticide Technician (6-month Fixed Term Contract)

Job Summary

CABI has a new and exciting opportunity for a biopesticide technician to work on fungal biopesticide studies, including insect efficacy testing, as well as supporting data inputting for the CABI BioProtection Portal.

The CABI-UK Biopesticide Team works in controlling agricultural insect pests using fungal pathogens. Due to recent successes in project securement the team has a number of active projects covering subjects such as testing microbes for environmental suitability, the control of specific insect pests, mass production of fungi and upkeep of biopesticide information on the CABI BioProtection Portal. The team presently comprises three people and now requires a fourth person to ensure project implementation.

We are looking for an early career scientist who will be primarily lab-based. They will be working on the characterisation of fungal microbes, insect efficacy testing, general laboratory work and data inputting.  Attention to detail and the ability to follow protocols are essential, along with a good knowledge of laboratory health and safety.  The candidate must be able to work with live insects.  Full training will be provided.
