About the Role
<p>Anderson Knight are delighted to be working exclusively with our Glasgow based client to appoint an exceptional, technically strong Financial Controller to join a dynamic and complex multi-entity organisation. This is a high-impact leadership role for a qualified finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, combining technical excellence with commercial insight and strong governance.</p>
<p>Reporting to senior leadership, you will take full ownership of financial control, statutory compliance, and reporting across the group, while driving continuous improvement in processes, systems, and performance.</p>
<p><strong>The Role</strong></p>
<p>As Financial Controller, you will lead the accounting function and play a critical role in ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of all financial reporting. You will operate as a trusted partner to senior stakeholders, contributing to strategic decision-making and business performance.</p>
<p>Key responsibilities include:</p>
<ul>
<li>Leading the preparation of accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in line with UK GAAP</li>
<li>Owning the month-end and year-end close processes across multiple entities</li>
<li>Managing statutory reporting and acting as the primary liaison with external auditors</li>
<li>Ensuring full compliance with HMRC requirements, including VAT, PAYE, corporation tax and other filings</li>
<li>Establishing and enhancing robust internal control frameworks to safeguard assets and ensure financial integrity</li>
<li>Leading internal audit coordination and proactively addressing control gaps and process improvements</li>
<li>Driving continuous improvement in accounting policies, procedures, and financial governance</li>
<li>Overseeing core finance operations including general ledger, fixed assets, payroll accounting, and cash management</li>
<li>Partnering closely with FP&A and operational leaders to support budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning</li>
<li>Supporting business cases, cost optimisation initiatives, and capital expenditure planning</li>
<li>Delivering insightful financial analysis and recommendations to support strategic decision-making</li>
<li>Leading, developing, and mentoring a high-performing finance team, fostering accountability and professional growth</li>
<li>Overseeing the implementation and optimisation of financial systems and accounting platforms</li>

<p>You are a technically outstanding finance leader with a strong track record operating in complex, multi-entity environments. You combine deep technical expertise with commercial awareness and the ability to influence at a senior level.</p>
<p>You will bring:</p>
<ul>
<li>A recognised accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA)</li>
<li>Significant progressive experience in accounting and finance, including leadership of a finance function</li>
<li>Deep technical expertise in UK GAAP and statutory reporting</li>
<li>Proven experience managing external audits and auditor relationships</li>
<li>Strong knowledge of financial controls, compliance, and governance frameworks</li>
<li>The ability to identify financial risks and challenges, and proactively develop practical solutions</li>
<li>Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail</li>
<li>A collaborative approach, with the confidence to partner effectively with senior stakeholders</li>
<li>Experience improving processes, systems, and efficiencies within a finance function</li>
