Summary
Hiring a Material Handling Supervisor in Toledo, OH to lead hourly production support teams responsible for material receiving, line-side delivery, and inventory replenishment. This Material Handling Supervisor role (also commonly called a Material Area Supervisor) is a hands-on floor leadership position focused on keeping production running by solving real-time issues, allocating manpower, and maintaining safe, efficient material flow.

The Material Handling Supervisor will also support lean manufacturing / continuous improvement efforts and daily reporting tied to safety, quality, throughput, and inventory control.
Responsibilities
- Lead hourly, bargaining employees supporting material receiving, staging, and production line-side delivery
- Troubleshoot throughput/material flow issues in real time; reallocate labor and resources to prevent downtime
- Manage manpower: staffing coverage, absenteeism tracking, coaching, and on-the-job training
- Monitor and replenish line-side inventory stock levels; support inventory accuracy and control practices
- Maintain safe operating procedures for material handling equipment; coordinate routine maintenance needs
- Support daily production targets through effective prioritization and cross-team communication
- Maintain daily reporting for safety, quality, throughput performance, and inventory metrics
- Collaborate with union leadership to address team member concerns and maintain strong working relationships
- Promote lean manufacturing and continuous improvement activities on the floor (shift start-up, kaizen, problem-solving)
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- 18+ months of manufacturing leadership/supervisory experience preferred
- Union environment experience preferred (hourly/bargaining workforce)
- Strong oral/written communication skills; able to lead meetings and provide clear direction
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing setting
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite for reporting and communication
