Alumni Services For Employers Looking for the perfect candidate for that full-time vacancy or internship? Look no further. Employer Services Career Services for Every Stage of Your Journey The Career & Professional Readiness Center supports students from their first semester through graduation and beyond. By aligning services with each stage of the college experience, students receive guidance that evolves alongside their academic and professional goals. First-Year Students Begin building a foundation for future success by exploring interests, identifying strengths, and learning how different majors connect to career paths. Early engagement helps students make informed academic decisions and start developing professional habits. Sophomores: Exploring Opportunities As students gain clarity in their academic direction, the focus shifts to exploring internships, gaining hands-on experience, and developing key skills such as resume writing and networking. This is an ideal time to begin connecting classroom learning to real-world applications. Juniors: Gaining Experience Students are encouraged to take a more active role in career preparation by securing internships, refining their resumes, and practicing interview techniques. Career advisors work closely with students to align experiences with long-term goals and industry expectations. Seniors: Preparing for What’s Next In the final year, the emphasis is on transitioning from college to career. Students receive support with job searches, graduate school applications, interview preparation, and offer evaluation to confidently take their next step after graduation. Alumni: Ongoing Career Support Career development does not end at graduation. Alumni continue to have access to career resources, professional guidance, and networking opportunities to support advancement, career changes, and lifelong professional growth. "The CPRC has helped me out tremendously, notably, by helping me reprioritize what should be on my resume for internship and job applications: Each cover letter and resume should be tailor-made for any given application. "It's such details that go a long way for students seeking to set themselves apart from others in a professional setting. I encourage all students to go to the CPRC to enhance their understanding of the 'real world' and the professionalism that is expected during and after college. Thanks, CPRC, for all you do for SBU students." Joshua Bannon MBA student Your life and career will have unexpected twists.
