Overview
As a Tax Senior Associate, you’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality tax compliance and tax advisory services while partnering with a collaborative, high-performing public accounting team. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of client engagements, contribute to tax planning strategy, support client relationship management, and mentor junior staff —all within a growth-oriented, paperless environment focused on continuous professional development.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and pass-through entities across diverse industries
- Apply technical knowledge of individual taxation, business taxation, partnership taxation, and S-Corporation taxation to ensure accurate and compliant filings
- Collaborate on tax planning, tax research, and advisory projects, identifying opportunities for tax efficiency and risk mitigation
- Gather, analyze, and interpret financial data to support tax compliance, tax provision calculations, and reporting requirements
- Conduct technical tax research using authoritative sources to resolve complex tax issues and document conclusions
- Communicate tax strategies, compliance requirements, and planning recommendations clearly to both internal teams and external clients
- Utilize tax software systems and paperless workflow tools to manage engagements efficiently and maintain documentation standards
- Support client engagement management, including meeting deadlines, coordinating deliverables, and maintaining responsiveness
- Mentor and coach Associates by reviewing workpapers, providing constructive feedback, and supporting technical skill development
- Participate in continuing professional education (CPE), regulatory updates, and professional networking to stay current with evolving IRS regulations and tax law changes
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- Active CPA license, CPA candidate, or Enrolled Agent (EA) certification
- 2–4 years of public accounting experience focused on tax compliance and tax preparation
- Strong working knowledge of tax accounting principles, IRS regulations, GAAP fundamentals, and multi-entity taxation
- Experience managing multiple engagements with strong time management, organization, and attention to detail
- Demonstrated analytical thinking and ability to adapt to established compliance processes and quality control standards
- Effective written and verbal communication skills with a client-service mindset
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment
