Northamptonshire's Children's Trust Looking for Social Worker for their Duty & Assessment Team
Payrate: -£38.00 p/h Umbrella
Location: - One Angel Square, NN1 1ED
Role Overview:
The Duty and Assessment Team (DAAT) is the frontline service and single point of contact for all safeguarding concerns relating to children and young people in Northamptonshire. DAAT works closely with the MASH service to ensure timely and effective response to referrals.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as the first point of contact for all safeguarding concerns in the catchment area.
Receive referrals from MASH and manage the onward assessment and allocation of cases.
Conduct prompt assessments and visits:
Children in Need (CIN) cases: visits within 5 days.
Child Protection (CP) cases: visits within 24 hours, same day if possible.
Ensure all children and families are seen and supported promptly.
Manage a capped caseload (up to 35 cases, typically 25-30), adjusting workloads as necessary.
Develop long-term relationships with families, often handling multiple children per family while managing a limited number of families.
Maintain accurate case records and documentation in line with statutory requirements and service standards.
Participate in a structured 6-week duty cycle, including full weeks in the office during duty weeks.
Be local and available for home visits within allocated areas (e.g., Daventry, Northampton Central, Corby).
Collaborate with colleagues across six teams within DAAT, including Team Managers, Advanced Practitioners, Social Workers, Newly Qualified Social Workers, and Family Support Workers.
Engage in professional development and training opportunities, with support for locums to access permanent staff training allocations.
Contribute to a supportive, stable team environment with experienced management and peer support.
Service Expectations:
Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment to ensure child safety and well-being.
Adapt to varying caseloads and geographic allocations while maintaining high-quality practice.
Promote safeguarding and child-cantered practice in all interactions.
Essential Requirements:
Social Work Qualification - Degree or equivalent
At least 3 years' experience as a social worker within children's services
Social Work England Registration
Driving license and access to own vehicle
