What You’ll Do as a Welding Supervisor:
Lead daily welding operations by assigning work orders based on welder skill sets and production priorities
Conduct regular team meetings to coordinate workflow, address challenges, and improve communication across the department
Monitor department productivity, efficiency, and time management to meet production schedules
Communicate project status updates with Production Planners and Assembly Supervisors to ensure smooth workflow
Review CRP and MRP systems to anticipate material needs and prevent production delays
Supervise and develop team members through performance reviews, coaching, mentoring, and disciplinary actions when necessary
Develop and maintain Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR) in accordance with industry standards
Provide technical guidance on welding metallurgy, stainless steel properties, and fabrication best practices
Lead distortion control techniques and straightening processes for stainless steel weldments
Oversee weld quality control and ensure all weldments meet engineering specifications and code requirements
Conduct and interpret weld inspections, including dimensional inspections, destructive testing, and non-destructive testing methods
Manage welding consumables inventory and coordinate material orders as needed
Ensure welding equipment, cranes, compressors, and shop machinery are maintained through inspections and scheduled servicing
Support safety initiatives and ensure all welding operations follow company safety procedures
Skills and Experience
What You’ll Bring as a Preferred Candidate:
Recent experience supervising welding teams of 20 or more employees in a manufacturing environment
Hands-on MIG welding experience with stainless steel fabrication
Strong background in structural stainless steel welding and distortion control
Deep understanding of welding metallurgy and metal behavior during fabrication
Experience developing and managing Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR)
Knowledge of weld inspection techniques, including dimensional inspection, destructive testing, and non-destructive testing
Experience using ERP or MRP systems in a manufacturing environment
Overhead crane training or certification
Strong analytical, mathematical, and time-management skills
High school diploma or GED (or equivalent experience)
