About the Role

Associate Electrical Design Engineer – Birmingham About the job:As one of our Associate Electrical Engineers, you will join our soon-to-be-launched Birmingham office, working closely with our established Dublin team and supporting the continued growth of our UK presence. This is a key management role focused on delivering major hyperscale data centre projects across the EMEA region. The role will initially be remote, transitioning to a hybrid model once the Birmingham hub is operational, with flexible office attendance required. You will work across complex data centre projects throughout EMEA, acting as a senior technical authority and trusted decision-maker. As a self-starter, you will apply current technologies, make independent technical judgements and operate confidently within a fast-paced, agile environment. You will bring strong commercial awareness, making informed financial and project decisions while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure Ethos design processes and engineering standards are upheld to the highest level. About you:The role will initially be remote, transitioning to a hybrid model once the Birmingham hub is operational, with flexible office attendance required.Honours degree - Chartered [an advantage, but not essential]10 years recognised expert within the sector [electrical engineering and data centres or industrial/high-tech and commercial]3 years' experience in people management, managing multidisciplinary teams (consultants and engineers, etc.)3 years' project management experience, overseeing both electrical and mechanical engineering projectsExcellent communication, presentation, and organisational skillsAbility to work well with employees at all levels of the organisationDrive for continuous innovation and adoption of emerging technologiesChampion excellence in the Ethos design process and engineering techniquesYour key day-to-day activities:Review technical designs to ensure that design & scope are fully understoodEnhance functionality and costs on projectsEnsure effective collaboration between M&ELead a high performing team, championing QA and QC, and hitting deadline targetsMonitor costs and innovate to minimise expenses within the Ethos groupAssist in the management of the resources within the group, including outsourcingCan interpret contracts, understanding terms and conditions and work to these parametersLiaise with senior management when new and relevant industry trends and products emergeAssist in the procurement of new business – liaising with the senior management teamEffectively communicate to external parties [clients, suppliers, partners, vendors]Build relationships with external business associatesRepresent the group to the wider Ethos company, providing inputs to shape the companies Quality Assurance proceduresManage a team in the delivery of multiple large-scale projectsMonitor the development of the team through monthly 1-2-1’s and informal communicationTrain junior team members and create action plans for poor performanceEnsure new technologies are understood by the Ethos teamWhy Join?
