POSITION TITLE: Educational Psychologist

REPORTS TO: Director of Student Support

Contract: Full-time, starting August 2026

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Educational Psychologist supports the learning, social-emotional development, and mental health of students from Early Years through Grade 12 within an adaptive system of support. Working collaboratively with students, families, educators, and the Student Support team, the Educational Psychologist conducts comprehensive assessments, writes evaluation reports, provides evidence-based interventions, and contributes to school-wide programs and systems that promote positive learning environments and student well-being.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Credentials
Master's degree or higher in School Psychology, Educational Psychology, or Clinical/Counseling Psychology with specialization in educational settings
Appropriate professional credentials, qualifications, and licenses for practice as an Educational/School Psychologist (e.g., NCSP, state licensure, or international equivalent)
Experience
Minimum 5 years of experience in a school-based educational/school psychology role
Demonstrated experience conducting comprehensive psychoeducational assessments
Experience working within multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS/RTI frameworks)
Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to support diverse learners
Knowledge and Skills
Strong knowledge of child and adolescent development, learning theories, and evidence-based instructional and behavioral interventions
Expertise in psychoeducational assessment, interpretation, and report writing
Knowledge of learning disabilities, ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, mental health conditions, and other factors affecting learning
Understanding of inclusive education practices and differentiation strategies
Familiarity with IB curriculum frameworks (PYP, MYP, DP) preferred
Skilled in data-based decision making and progress monitoring
Professional Competencies:

Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to translate complex psychological concepts for diverse audiences

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

Assessment and Evaluation
Conduct comprehensive psychoeducational assessments, including cognitive, academic, social-emotional, behavioral, and adaptive functioning evaluations to identify student strengths and needs
Administer, score, and interpret standardized assessment instruments using evidence-based practices
Coordinate external assessments, in other languages or social/emotional-specific, when needed
Synthesize assessment data with information from teachers, parents, and observations to develop clear diagnostic impressions and actionable recommendations
Maintain confidential assessment records and ensure compliance with privacy regulations
Collaborative Planning and Reflection:
Consult with teachers, administrators, and families to design and implement evidence-based interventions within a tiered support framework (Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 3)
Work as a member of the school counseling team as an equal member of student support review teams for social/emotional concerns.
Collaborate with the Director of Student Support and multidisciplinary team members to develop, monitor, and evaluate individualized education plans and intervention strategies
Participate in Student Support review teams to analyze student data, problem-solve barriers to learning, and make data-informed decisions
Support teachers in understanding assessment results and translating recommendations into classroom practice
Work with the Admissions team to review applications for students with identified learning or social-emotional needs, making recommendations for appropriate service levels and transition planning
Intervention and Support
Provide direct individual and small-group interventions using evidence-based therapeutic approaches for students with social-emotional, behavioral, or mental health needs
Design and implement behavioral intervention plans based on functional behavior assessment
Deliver crisis intervention services and coordinate support during significant life events (e.g., grief, trauma, transitions)
Refer students and families to external mental health services when needs exceed school-based capacity
Monitor intervention effectiveness through data collection and progress monitoring

Systems-Level Support and Professional Development
Contribute to the development and implementation of school-wide positive behavioral supports and social-emotional learning initiatives
Provide professional learning for faculty and staff on topics such as child and adolescent development, learning differences, mental health awareness, trauma-informed practices, differentiation strategies, and behavior support techniques
Promote culturally responsive practices that honor diversity and support equity in educational access and outcomes
Collaborate on the development of policies and procedures related to student support services
Communication and Family Partnership
Communicate assessment findings and recommendations clearly to families, respecting cultural and linguistic diversity
Support families in understanding their child's learning profile and accessing appropriate resources
Facilitate meetings with parents, teachers, and students to develop collaborative support plans
Serve as a resource to families navigating challenges related to learning, development, behavior, or mental health
