About the Role
Electron Beam Welder is responsible for setting up and operating electron beam welding machines to join metal pieces in accordance with specifications. This role plays a key part in the production process, including assisting in the development of new weld processes, and working with various departments to ensure continuous improvement and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
Machine Setup & Operation:
Set up and operate electron beam welding machines to join metal components according to technical specifications.
Welding & Process Development:
Perform production welding and assist in the development of new welding techniques and processes.
Collaboration with Production Supervisor:
Work directly with the Production Supervisor to understand and meet customer order expectations.
Quality Verification:
Conduct in-process verification to ensure the quality and accuracy of welding workmanship.
Issue Reporting:
Notify the Production Supervisor of any potential challenges in meeting due dates or production deadlines.
Equipment Monitoring:
Monitor the condition and performance of welding equipment and report any malfunctions to the Production Supervisor.
Continuous Improvement & Quality Assurance:
Collaborate with the Quality Assurance (QA) Department to identify and implement process improvements, as well as work instructions.
Corrective Action Resolution:
Assist the QA Department in addressing and resolving customer corrective actions related to welding quality or performance.
Inspection Tools:
Understand and properly use measuring and inspection tools to ensure compliance with specifications.
Interpretation of Technical Documents:
Read and interpret part drawings, blueprints, and specifications to accurately perform welding tasks.
Qualifications & Experience:
Education:
Secondary School Diploma or equivalent, with additional technical training preferred.
Experience:
3 years Experience with Electron Beam Welding (EB Welding) or Laser Welding is required.
Skills:
Strong ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Familiarity with welding equipment and measurement/inspection tools.
Good communication and problem-solving skills, particularly in addressing production challenges and quality assurance.
