About the Role

GovCIO is currently hiring for a Kubernetes Cloud DevOps Engineer who serves as a technical leader and mentor, ensuring platform reliability, automation maturity, and operational excellence across distributed teams and environments.  This position will be located on Fort Bragg, North Carolina and will be an on-site position. Responsibilities he Kubernetes Cloud DevOps Engineer is responsible for designing, deploying, and sustaining scalable, secure, and highly available cloud-native environments supporting mission-critical operations. This role operates with a high degree of autonomy, applying deep technical expertise to solve complex infrastructure and platform challenges while driving continuous improvement across cloud and DevOps ecosystems.   The engineer serves as a technical leader and mentor, ensuring platform reliability, automation maturity, and operational excellence across distributed teams and environments.   Cloud & Platform Engineering Design, deploy, manage, and optimize Kubernetes-based cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, or hybrid DoD architectures) Administer container orchestration platforms ensuring high availability, scalability, and resilience Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, Bicep, or CloudFormation DevOps & Automation Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support rapid, secure, and repeatable deployments Automate provisioning, configuration management, and application delivery workflows Drive DevSecOps best practices, integrating security into all phases of the pipeline Operations & Reliability Monitor system performance, availability, and security posture using modern observability tools Rapidly troubleshoot and resolve complex cloud and Kubernetes issues across multiple environments Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence Innovation & Continuous Improvement Develop and implement innovative solutions to complex technical challenges Continuously evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements to platform architecture Enhance system performance, cost efficiency, and operational scalability Leadership & Mentorship Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and cross-functional teams Operate independently with minimal oversight while aligning to program and mission objectives Support team development, knowledge sharing, and DevOps maturity advancement Qualifications High School with 10+ years (or commensurate experience) Required Skills and Experience Clearance Required: TS/SCI DoD 8570 IAT Level II Certification Linux Essentials LPI Certified Kubernetes Administrator Azure Administrator Hands-on experience with Kubernetes (cluster deployment, operations, and troubleshooting) Experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP) Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, ARM/Bicep, CloudFormation, etc.) Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab CI, Jenkins, GitHub Actions) Proficiency with container technologies (Docker, container registries) Experience with monitoring/logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Cloud-native tools) Strong scripting skills (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell) Ability to communicate technical ideas and deliver briefings with cross-functional teams work in a high-demand environment and provide technical expertise on all phases of system Preferred Skills and Ex Cisco Certified Network Professional Certified Kubernetes Application Developer AWS Solutions Architect Experience with developing tactical, expeditionary cross-domain solutions to deliver FMV across different environments, enclaves, and networks Experience with designing, installing, configuring, and troubleshooting expeditionary, global, regional, and disconnected networks, including internal LAN traffic, WAN, Satellite communications, commercial leased lines, long haul circuits, distributed packet processing, data compression, encryption, and various data transport systems Experience with evaluating projected network usage and reviewing utilization reports Experience with Agile development methodologies and working with Agile teams using collaboration tools such as Gitlab. Knowledge of network engineering in cloud and disconnected edge environments Experience supporting DoD or Federal cloud environments (e.g., IL2–IL6, GovCloud, Azure Government) Familiarity with DevSecOps, STIG compliance, and RMF frameworks
