In Alaska, where high energy costs make it difficult for many families to keep their homes warm, United Way of Anchorage responds by mobilizing community support. Through the annual Walk for Warmth and local donations, neighbors help neighbors cover heating expenses during the coldest months.   Walk for Warmth attendees create posters to carry with them. Among them are Anna Silco and her two-year-old son Aidan. Lily Cullers, United Way of Anchorage staff accountant, helps at the registration table. Staff and volunteers are the backbone of community events.  Greg Gallagher, United Way of Anchorage vice president of philanthropy, speaks to Walk for Warmth attendees. Walk for Warmth attendees gather outside Anchorage First Presbyterian Church before the walk begins.  Walk for Warmth attendees walk down F Street in Anchorage.  United Way of Anchorage President and CEO Eric Utraq Billingsley and his team are committed to improving the financial security of the Anchorage Community.   The Walk for Warmth is one of the ways United Way of Anchorage mobilizes the community to action. Carlos Machuca and Diane Delarosa brave the cold to make sure their neighbors stay warm.  Walk for Warmth attendees gather at Alaska Center for the Performing Arts after the walk.
