Join The University of Law as a Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA) and kick-start your academic career in a supportive, inclusive, and engaging environment.</p><p class="MsoNormal">This structured 2-year programme is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates, early career starters, or career changers looking to build a future in Higher Education while gaining valuable teaching experience and recognised qualifications.</p><p class="MsoNormal">We have opportunities available at our centrally located campuses in <strong>London Bloomsbury, Birmingham, Leeds and Manchester</strong>. This is a campus-based role, with year-round teaching delivery.</p><p class="MsoNormal"><strong>This role will start on 1st September 206 and operates on a 5-over-7-day working pattern, which may include evenings and weekends to support our flexible delivery model.</strong></p><p class="MsoNormal"><strong>What you’ll achieve</strong></p><p class="MsoNormal">During the programme, you will be supported to become ready for a lectureship in Higher Education and will complete the following:</p><ul><li class="MsoNormal"><p>Associate Fellowship of Advance HE (Year 1)</p></li><li class="MsoNormal"><p>Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education (Teaching Qualification) (Year 2)</p></li></ul><p class="MsoNormal"><em>The University covers all training and related tuition fees.</em></p><p class="MsoNormal"><strong>What you’ll be doing</strong></p><p class="MsoNormal">As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will contribute significantly to the student learning experience, supporting teaching and academic delivery on the LLB.</p><p class="MsoNormal"><strong>Key responsibilities include:</strong></p><ul><li class="MsoNormal"><p>Delivering high-quality teaching and supporting learning using a range of teaching and assessment methods</p></li><li class="MsoNormal"><p>Supporting workshops, tutorials, seminars, and teaching materials development</p></li><li class="MsoNormal"><p>Providing constructive feedback and feedforward on student work</p></li><li class="MsoNormal"><p>Ensuring quality and regulatory standards are upheld in teaching and assessment</p></li><li class="MsoNormal"><p>Supporting students with academic, pastoral and wellbeing signposting</p></li><li class="MsoNormal"><p>Assisting with administrative duties including admissions, timetabling, assessments, and attendance</p></li></ul><p class="MsoNormal"><strong>What we’re looking for</strong></p><p class="MsoNormal"><strong>Essential:</strong></p><ul><li class="MsoNormal"><p><strong>At the time of offer,</strong> you must hold have a minimum 2:1 undergraduate degree in law, <strong>OR</strong></p></li><li class="MsoNormal"><p>A minimum 2:1 undergraduate degree in any subject plus a minimum Commendation/Merit in a law conversion course (PgDL, MA in Law, or equivalent). </p></li></ul><ul><li class="MsoNormal"><p>Excellent written and verbal communication skills</p></li><li class="MsoNormal"><p>Strong organisational skills and ability to work professionally within guidelines and processes</p></li><li class="MsoNormal"><p>Confidence in presenting and engaging with groups</p></li></ul><p class="MsoNormal"><strong>Desirable:</strong></p><ul><li class="MsoNormal"><p>LPC, BPC, SQE or a Masters in a legal subject</p></li><li class="MsoNormal"><p>Some practical legal or professional experience</p></li></ul><p>For the full job description, click <a target="_blank" href="https://www.law.ac.uk/globalassets/13.-media--doc-repo/16.-vacancies/academic/academic-law/doc_academic_gta.docx">here</a></p><p class="MsoNormal"><strong>Why join us?</strong></p><p class="MsoNormal"><strong>Along with a starting salary of £29,500 (</strong><span><strong>with a £4,300 London weighting allowance for London-based roles</strong>)</span><strong>, increasing to £31,500 in year two</strong>, you’ll benefit from:</p><ul><li class="MsoNormal"><p>35 days’ annual leave</p></li><li class="MsoNormal"><p>Private Medical Scheme and Life Assurance</p></li><li class="MsoNormal"><p>Contributory Pension Scheme</p></li><li class="MsoNormal"><p>Season Ticket Loans and Student Discounts</p></li></ul><p class="MsoNormal"><strong>Additional information</strong></p><p class="MsoNormal">The closing date for applications is <strong>24th May 2026.</strong></p><p class="MsoNormal">As part of the shortlisting process, you will be asked to submit a one-page statement outlining your motivation and interest in the Graduate Teaching Assistant scheme.</p><p class="MsoNormal">For further details, please visit our careers site or contact <a target="_blank" href="mailto:talentacquisition@law.ac.uk">talentacquisition@law.ac.uk</a>.</p><p class="MsoNormal">Please note: You must have the right to work in the UK.
