About the Role

We are currently working with a Local Authority in Devon who are looking for an experienced Financial Resilience Officer (Housing) to join their team.

You will support residents experiencing financial hardship by identifying appropriate financial assistance, improving access to services, and helping build long-term financial resilience. Working collaboratively with internal teams and external partners, you will provide person-centred, trauma-informed support to help residents address the root causes of financial vulnerability.

Job: Financial Resilience Officer

Duration: 3 Months

Hours: 15hrs per week

Start date: ASAP

Rate: £28 per hour via Umbrella, Inside IR35

Site presence: TBC

Role Details

  • Support financially vulnerable residents by completing financial assessments, identifying support needs, and helping maximise income and benefit entitlement
  • Manage applications and discretionary payments for hardship schemes, while providing guidance on housing, homelessness, and financial support services
  • Work collaboratively with internal departments, charities, statutory agencies, and community organisations to coordinate tailored support for resident
  • Maintain accurate records, monitor outcomes and budgets, and contribute to service improvement, policy development, and best practice initiatives

Requirements

  • Experience supporting vulnerable residents experiencing financial hardship, homelessness, or complex social challenges
  • Knowledge of welfare benefits, income maximisation, housing support, and person-centred approaches to service deliver
  • Strong communication, listening, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to handle sensitive situations empathetically and professionally
  • Good organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage workloads, maintain accurate records, and work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders
