About the Role

When you work in ESH's Science Departments as a lab assistant, you will be part of a multicultural team consisting of four TOAs supporting passionate science teachers in four language sections. We value teamwork and a culture of collaboration in which we are all lifelong learners. Our teachers aim to deliver engaging practical lessons in Biology, Integrated Science, Chemistry and Physics, and need your support to prepare the materials in advance. We are looking for a lab assistant able to support preparing experiments in Biology and Integrated Science, but who can also help in Physics or Chemistry when required. This is a temporary position to cover a colleague currently on sick leave. The initial contract will be until the end of July 2026, but with the possibility of extension, if needed. We challenge you, give you the space to grow, and ensure that your work truly makes an impact. - Prepare experiments and practical demonstrations. - Where necessary, test the experiments to ensure they will run as expected in class. - Consult with teachers and give input and advice on practical experiments. - Consult with the teachers about safety measures and advise on classroom safety rules. - Carrying out (minor) repairs to equipment or materials. - Managing stock and ordering materials. - Attend meetings with teachers and other TOAs - Keep a well-ordered, clean laboratory and ensure inventory is clearly labelled. - Subject expertise in Biology or related Sciences, and demonstrable competencies. For example, Technical Education Assistant MBO level 4. - Knowledge of Chemistry and Physics, within a school environment, is desirable. - Excellent knowledge of the English language (both spoken and written) - Recent work experience as a technical teaching assistant in secondary education at pre-university level is desirable. - Familiar with safety measures and working conditions rules. - Good ICT skills in an educational context. - Experience in international and/or intercultural education is an advantage. - Able to work independently and as a team player. - Able to develop and elaborate practical experiments and demonstrations. - Patient and helpful. - Ability to take the initiative and be responsible. - Organised and inventive. - Be Part of Something Special: Shape the creative minds of our diverse student body in an international setting. - Experience the World: Work in The Hague, a city rich in culture and international connections. - We offer a salary aligned with the Dutch Collective Labour Agreement (CAO VO).
