About the role:

justteachers are currently recruiting for a full-time SEN Teaching Assistant position within a specialist provision in the Cambridge area, starting in September on a long-term basis.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to support pupils with a range of additional needs in a specialist educational setting. The provision supports children and young people with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, learning difficulties, and associated communication needs, delivering tailored support in line with individual EHCP outcomes.
The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff and specialist professionals to help pupils access learning, develop confidence and independence, and achieve positive outcomes both academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities:

Providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEN
Supporting the delivery of personalised learning activities and interventions
Encouraging pupil engagement, communication and independence
Supporting social, emotional and behavioural development
Implementing individual support strategies and EHCP targets
Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists and support staff
Assisting pupils during transitions and throughout the school day
Monitoring and recording pupil progress, wellbeing and engagement

Pre-requisites:

Experience working with children or young people with SEN, either in education, care or support settings
A patient, resilient and nurturing approach
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
An understanding of autism, communication needs and behaviour support strategies
The ability to adapt support to meet individual pupil needs
A genuine passion for helping young people achieve their potential

Candidates from teaching assistant, support worker, residential care, youth work, care, or similar backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

As part of our safeguarding and compliance process, we require a minimum of two professional references covering the last two years in full, along with an Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
