Materials Planning Manager

A leading international manufacturing business specialising in advanced engineered components and assemblies is seeking an experienced and commercially focused Materials Planner & Logistics Manager to oversee purchasing, planning, and logistics operations within a fast-paced production environment. The successful candidate will combine strong commercial awareness with operational expertise to ensure material availability supports production demands while maintaining cost efficiency and supplier performance. Full time 37.5-hour week – Monday to Thursday 8.30am – 5pm, Friday 8.30am – 2.30pm.Responsibilities:As a Materials Planning Manager you will… Develop and maintain purchasing procedures, policies, and supplier agreements Negotiate pricing, lead times, and commercial terms with suppliers Build and manage supplier relationships while mitigating supply chain risks Maintain appropriate stock levels for raw materials, consumables, and tooling Utilise MRP/ERP systems to improve planning accuracy and operational efficiency Align production schedules with sales forecasts and inventory targets Oversee storage, packing, and on-time customer deliveries Lead, support, and develop the Planning team (managing a team of 8) Drive continuous improvement initiatives across supply chain and logistics functions  Requirements:As a Materials Planning Manager, you will need… Relevant degree qualification and/or CIPS qualified (or working towards) Minimum of 3 years’ experience within materials planning, procurement, and logistics Strong knowledge of MRP/ERP systems, Microsoft Office, contract management, and technical specifications/drawings Proven leadership and communication skills Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities Benefits:As a Materials Planning Manager you will get… Training and professional development opportunities 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays Company pension with matched contributions Life assurance scheme Employee referral programme Employee assistance programme On-site parking Company events If you’re an experienced Materials Planner and Logistics Manager looking for your next opportunity, we’d love to hear from you.
