About the Role

Tri County Transportation Inc. The Service Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of fleet maintenance and repair operations. This includes managing maintenance staff, ensuring strict adherence to safety and regulatory standards, scheduling preventative maintenance, and maintaining detailed service records. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership capabilities, extensive technical expertise (preferably in diesel or heavy-duty vehicles), and a deep commitment to student safety. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage the maintenance team, including technicians and support personnel. Oversee daily service operations, including diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and emergency repairs. Ensure full compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal safety regulations (e.g., DOT, OSHA). Maintain comprehensive service records, inventory logs, and maintenance schedules using fleet management systems. Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to improve operational efficiency and minimize vehicle downtime. Coordinate with operations teams to align vehicle availability with service needs and reduce disruptions. Conduct routine inspections and audits to ensure the mechanical integrity and safety of all vehicles. Manage vendor relationships for parts procurement, equipment, and outsourced services. Qualifications Minimum of 5 years of experience in fleet maintenance management, preferably within the school bus, commercial vehicle, or public transit sectors. In-depth knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and heavy-duty vehicle systems. Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Proficiency with fleet management software and maintenance recordkeeping systems. ASE certification or equivalent technical credentials (preferred). Valid driver’s license required (CDL with S endorsement preferred or willingness to obtain). Availability to work flexible hours as needed.
