About the Role
On behalf of The Government Property Agency, we are looking for a Commercial Lead for a 6 month hybrid contract (2-3 days in the office-remainder working from home) based out of Birmingham, Bristol, Manchester or Nottingham.
The Government Property Agency is an Executive Agency of the cabinet office. It is changing the way the Civil Service works and is at the forefront of Government's transformation agenda; reshaping the relationship civil servants have with their place of work. The Agency is central to the delivery of key Government policies including moving 22,000 Civil Service roles out of London by 2030 and tackling climate change by contributing to the Net Zero agenda. To do this we are delivering a major change programme across the UK and consolidating our portfolio in order to save £1.4 Bn over 10 years.

As a Commercial lead , your main responsibilities will be:
Lead End-to-End Commercial Delivery: Own and drive the full commercial lifecycle for high‑impact Digital & Data initiatives, from market engagement through to contract award, maximising value and enabling delivery of the Digital team’s strategic ambitions.
Act as a Trusted Commercial Advisor: Provide expert commercial and contract management guidance to devolved Contract Managers, protecting the GPA’s commercial interests, strengthening supplier relationships, and ensuring consistently high performance.
Build Strategic Partnerships: Develop and sustain strong, collaborative relationships with key suppliers, strategic partners, and cross‑government stakeholders to deliver outstanding client outcomes, best‑value solutions, and measurable performance improvements.
Manage Commercial Risk and Resolution: Proactively identify, mitigate, and resolve commercial risks and issues in partnership with stakeholders, ensuring smooth delivery and momentum across programmes.
Essential:
Commercial Risk & Issue Management: Proactively identify, mitigate, and resolve commercial risks and issues, working collaboratively with stakeholders to maintain delivery momentum across programmes.
Strong Communication & Influence: Communicate complex commercial matters clearly and confidently, building trust, influencing stakeholders, and supporting effective decision‑making at all levels.
Public Procurement Expertise: Strong working knowledge of PCR 2015 and PA23, with proven ability to apply regulations confidently to complex and high‑value commercial activity.
Senior Stakeholder Engagement: Demonstrable experience engaging and influencing senior stakeholders, successfully securing buy‑in and driving alignment across diverse and complex environments.
Digital & Technology Category Experience: Proven commercial experience within Digital and Technology categories, supporting innovative delivery and value‑driven outcomes.
Desirable:
Professional Commercial Expertise: MCIPS qualified (or working towards) — highly desirable, demonstrating strong commercial credibility and best‑practice contract management capability.
