About the Role
<p><strong>Senior Quantity Surveyor </strong><br /><strong>Location: Chippenham (3 days on-site, 2 days working from home) </strong><br /><strong>12 month contract (outside of IR35) </strong><br /><strong>£400 – 500 per day</strong> </p>
<p><u>About the Role:</u> <br />– We are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to provide post-contract commercial support across a range of work packages. This is a key role supporting project delivery, ensuring commercial success while maintaining strong relationships with internal teams and external partners. <br />– You will play a vital role in managing costs, controlling change, and ensuring projects are delivered within budget and on time. </p>
<p><u>Responsibilities:</u> <br />– Provide post-contract commercial support across subcontract, materials, and direct labour packages <br />– Ensure projects are delivered within cost and time constraints <br />– Support the commercial management of work packages including Design, Installation, Test & Commission, Materials, Telecoms, Electrification, Power, Plant, Professional Services, Civil Engineering, and Permanent Way <br />– Manage change control processes for assigned work packages <br />– Act as the primary commercial interface for work package managers <br />– Provide contractual and commercial support to Project Managers and Engineering teams <br />– Manage costs, including forecasting, budgeting, and financial control <br />– Identify, monitor, and mitigate commercial risks <br />– Contribute to internal and external commercial reporting <br />– Ensure compliance with company processes and document control standards <br />– Collaborate with finance, project management, engineering teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients <br />– Maintain auditable records in line with contractual requirements </p>
<p><u>Requirements:</u> <br />– Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within a contractor-side project environment <br />– Background in industries such as rail, engineering, defence, construction, or similar <br />– Degree qualified (or equivalent) and/or working towards professional accreditation (e.g. RICS, IACCM) <br />– Strong experience managing direct labour and subcontract costs <br />– Skilled in estimating and managing change/variations <br />– Experienced in cost forecasting and variance analysis <br />– Strong commercial reporting experience (internal and external) <br />– Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills <br />– Strong commercial and financial acumen <br />– Able to work independently under tight deadlines <br />– Solid contractual knowledge and experience <br />– Confident communicator, able to engage at all levels <br />– Strong team player with collaborative approach <br />– Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Project, Outlook) </p>
