Role Summary
The Payroll Consultant will provide immediate, hands-on support to stabilize and streamline payroll operations following a recent system implementation. This role is ideal for a Workday-savvy payroll expert who can quickly diagnose issues, audit data, and support ongoing cleanup and process refinement.
Working closely with the Payroll Manager, a small payroll team, and an external consultant, you will help ensure accuracy across payroll, taxes, reporting, and employee inquiries while navigating a fast-moving, change-heavy environment.
Key Responsibilities
Perform detailed payroll audits to validate data integrity, tax setup, and employee records.
Build, modify, and troubleshoot Workday EIB templates (or create sample templates when needed).
Customize, pull, and analyze Workday payroll and HRIS reports.
Validate Workday payroll configuration, including tax jurisdictions, wage types, and compliance settings.
Assist with settlement processes and post-implementation cleanup tasks.
Support employee payroll inquiries with accuracy, clarity, and strong customer service.
Collaborate with team members to stabilize weekly payroll cycles for ~1,500 employees.
Work within Workday Payroll and ADP Smart Compliance to ensure correct payment processing and money movement.
Key Requirements
Demonstrated Workday Payroll experience, including hands-on HRIS functionality.
Ability to build, edit, and troubleshoot Workday reports and export data effectively.
Experience with Workday tax setup, including multi-state configuration and compliance.
Strong knowledge of payroll processes, auditing practices, and post-implementation stabilization.
Comfortable in a fast-paced, evolving environmentâflexible, agile, and not resistant to change.
Professional, polished communication skills with the ability to interact at a high level.
Preferred Skills
Experience with Workday EIB creation and template building (trainable).
Familiarity with ADP Smart Compliance for money movement.
Prior exposure to high-volume payroll environments.
