About the Role
Sirius Staffing is hiring Automation Technicians for a direct hire opportunity in Bay Minette, AL. This role reports to the Engineering, Maintenance, Reliability & Automation (EMRA) Leader of the manufacturing unit.
Schedule: Rotating shifts (2/3/3/2 days to nights) — initial training will be conducted on days.
Compensation: $30–$40/hr, depending on experience. Candidates with hands-on experience with Allen-Bradley or Siemens PLCs may be considered for up to $45/hr.
Responsibilities
Maintain computer software, hardware, and all facets of automation controls
Perform hardware and software upgrades to PLCs, Micro Controllers, and Process Computer Systems
Serve as the on-shift technical leader for process automation systems
Provide on-shift automation support and training to team members
Troubleshoot systems, coordinate project work, and maintain equipment functionality in conjunction with operations and maintenance teams
Collaborate with and support Engineering on automation projects
Inspect, diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair automation devices in production equipment to minimize downtime
Support Mechanical and Electrical crews by accessing computer logics, following PLC signals, and inspecting sensors and instruments
Repair and replace defective components in Remote I/O panels and Controller Cabinets
Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repair histories, and equipment performance metrics

Minimum Qualifications
HS Diploma/GED or 5+ years of industrial experience required
5 years of industrial experience and/or a 2-year degree/certification preferred
Knowledge and ability to follow safety procedures and standards, including NEC and OSHA; proper selection and use of PPE; Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO), grounding, arc flash prevention, machine guarding, and alternative means of controls when troubleshooting live circuits
PLC knowledge, including Ladder (LAD) and Function Block Diagram (FBD) logic
Familiarity with hydraulic and pneumatic circuits
Ability to analyze trend graphs and feedback from field sensors; work with digital and analog I/O in 24Vdc or 110VAC
Ability to execute PLC and HMI project backups and create restoration procedures
Familiarity with Ethernet networks and basic hardware
Computer skills, including Windows patching, setup, backups, and antivirus/cybersecurity basics
Basic understanding of Virtual Machines, thin clients, and industrial interfaces
Strong written and oral communication skills; experience with CMMS preferred
Willingness to work rotating shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays
Preferred Qualifications
Rolling, casting, or strip process experience
Ability to read prints, single lines, process flows, and network diagrams
Cisco or Rockwell network hardware configuration and troubleshooting
PRP experience
Industrial networking protocols (ModBus, Ethernet/IP, Profinet, etc.)
Software experience: Studio 5000/Logix 5000 (2+ yrs), FactoryTalk View Studio (2+ yrs), TIA Portal, WinCC HMI, AVEVA Pi, IbaPDA, MS SQL, Octoplant, ThinManager, VMWare
Programming skills: C#, Ladder, SQL, Python
Familiarity with surveillance camera circuits
Physical Requirements
Near constant standing with frequent walking; occasional sitting
Occasional below-waist work, climbing, balancing, carrying, reaching, and fine motor tasks
Occasional lifting up to 35 lbs; push/pull and lifting up to 50 lbs
Ability to work at heights
