About the Role
Westminster City Council is seeking an experienced Reviews Officer to join our Housing Services team. This role will focus on delivering high-quality statutory reviews across homelessness decisions, the housing register, and temporary accommodation suitability, ensuring all reviews are completed lawfully, fairly, and within required timescales.
The successful candidate will manage a varied and complex caseload, applying sound judgement and strong legislative knowledge to statutory decision-making while providing a customer-focused service led by empathy, clarity, and professionalism.
This role is hybrid and will require attendance at council offices and home working in line with service needs.
Key Responsibilities
Complete statutory homelessness reviews, including housing register and temporary accommodation suitability reviews
Ensure all decisions comply with homelessness legislation, statutory guidance, and council policies
Manage a caseload proactively with minimal supervision, progressing cases efficiently to conclusion
Liaise with service users, colleagues, and partner agencies via email, telephone, and face-to-face contact
Accurately record and document all case activity on case management systems and relevant spreadsheets
Obtain, assess, and analyse information to support robust and defensible review decisions
Communicate clearly and effectively, ensuring all interactions are led with empathy and understanding
Independently drive queries and workloads forward in a fast-paced environment
Complete all administrative tasks to a high standard, ensuring records are clear, concise, and legally compliant
What We Are Looking For
Essential Requirements:
Proven experience of completing homelessness reviews (mandatory)
Experience of completing housing register and temporary accommodation suitability reviews (mandatory)
Strong working knowledge of homelessness legislation and associated policies
Experience of statutory decision-making within a housing or homelessness context
Strong written and numerical skills
Experience using case management systems
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
Proactive, self-motivated approach with the ability to manage workload independently
