We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Support Teaching Assistant to join our team, supporting pupils with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs within a specialist school environment.This rewarding role is ideal for someone with previous mental health experience who can help pupils overcome barriers to learning, develop emotional resilience and reach their full potential.Main Responsibilities:Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH needsSupport students with emotional regulation, wellbeing strategies and positive behaviour approachesBuild positive and trusting relationships to help pupils feel safe, supported and ready to learnWork alongside teaching staff and pastoral teams to implement individual support strategiesSupport pupils through challenging situations using calm, consistent and trauma-informed approachesPromote confidence, independence and positive social developmentHelp create a nurturing and inclusive learning environmentMonitor student progress and contribute to wellbeing and behaviour support plansThe Ideal Candidate Will Have:Previous experience working in mental health support is essentialExperience supporting children or young people with SEMH or additional needs is highly desirableUnderstanding of trauma-informed practice and emotional wellbeing support strategiesStrong communication and relationship-building skillsA patient, resilient and empathetic approachThe ability to remain calm under pressure and support students positively through challengesRelevant qualifications in mental health, psychology, education or support work are advantageousWe Offer:A supportive and experienced staff teamOngoing training and professional development opportunitiesA rewarding role where you can make a real difference every dayOpportunities for progression within specialist educationIf you have the experience, passion and commitment to support young people with SEMH needs, we would love to hear from you.
