About the Role

Peter Asuzu

What does your research focus on?

I work on radar signal processing algorithms and systems development for long-range sensing in support of air defense, space surveillance, and missile defense missions.

Why is the Laboratory a good fit for you?

I enjoy working at the Laboratory, as I believe iron sharpens iron. The Laboratory is a great place to incubate and bring challenging ideas to life alongside others who share similar pursuits.

Are you involved in any Laboratory employee resource groups or outreach activities?

I am involved with two Communications and Community Outreach Office initiatives: Lincoln Laboratory Radar Introduction for Student Engineers (LLRISE) and Girls' Innovation Research Laboratory (G.I.R.L.). Recognizing that the value of knowledge and know-how is vastly increased when passed on, I embrace the Laboratory's strategic direction to bring STEM education to every corner of the nation.

Where are you originally from?

I was born in Lagos, Nigeria, and grew up in a large family, in a large neighborhood, in a large city — there was scarcely a dull moment. At age 10, I enrolled in boarding school. Living away from home for nine months a year instilled in me the confidence to face the unknown head on. When transitioning to a new environment, project, or role, I have come to rely on my boarding school experience.

Where have you traveled before, and where would you like to visit?

I have visited nearly 35 states, and I plan to see all 50. Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Wyoming, and the Dakotas are some of my favorite states. I am interested in learning about different cultures, and the United States has a good mix of that.

From day to day, where do you find inspiration or motivation?

I am inspired by the day-to-day problems that I encounter and see others encounter. Often, I am fascinated by how problems are solved across various individual and organizational contexts. I am especially drawn to solving large problems that can be broken down into smaller ones to facilitate insight.
