Our client is looking for a Planning Obligations Officer to join them for a contract role and support the delivery, monitoring, and enforcement of planning obligations, including Section 106 agreements and the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL). This role plays a key part in ensuring that development contributes effectively to local infrastructure and community priorities.

Ideally our client is looking for an individual with experience in planning, CIL administration, or development management, however, they will also consider applicants with transferable skills from related fields such as legal administration, finance, project coordination, or compliance-based roles.

Key responsibilities include managing and monitoring planning obligations, maintaining accurate records and databases, liaising with internal departments and external stakeholders, and supporting the collection and allocation of financial contributions.

This role requires strong analytical and organisational skills, with the ability to interpret legal agreements, track financial data, and manage multiple workstreams. Excellent communication skills are essential, as the postholder will work closely with developers, solicitors, and council teams to ensure obligations are understood and delivered.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate the following on their CV:

• Experience handling complex data, financial tracking, or compliance processes
• The ability to interpret technical, legal, or policy documents
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping
• Confidence working with stakeholders and resolving queries
• Good IT skills, including database and spreadsheet management

The rate will be around £25 (umbrella) and the contract will run until at least the end of December. Our client offers hybrid working with generally 2 days a week based in the office.

Our client is an extremely busy, very active planning authority in South East London who recruit a number of contractors who go on to hold long term positions so this is an excellent career opportunity.
