About the Role

INTRODUCTION and WHAT YOU WILL DO (Job Responsibilities)The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) will be responsible for managing and improving the quality of products from suppliers. The role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams, including purchasing, production, and engineering, to ensure supplier compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements. The SQE will be a key contributor to maintaining exceptional supplier performance and driving continuous improvement initiatives.Responsibilities<ul><li>Leads the applicable team and team members to resolve materials quality issues and increase manufacturing productivity.</li><li>Frequently participate in and lead continuous improvement workshops (kaizens) with team members to improve quality, delivery, and productivity at both supplier location and VR manufacturing facility.</li><li>Perform manufacturing process audits at external supplier locations; issue corrective actions to suppliers and following up to ensure their completion; performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.</li><li>Evaluate and audit suppliers to ensure compliance with company quality standards and industry regulations.</li><li>Develop, implement, and maintain supplier quality control plans.</li><li>Perform root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) for supplier-related quality issues.</li><li>Collaborate with suppliers to resolve product quality issues and implement continuous improvement processes.</li><li>Support supplier selection and onboarding processes with focus on quality assessment.</li><li>Review and approve supplier documentation, including certifications, quality manuals, and inspection reports.</li><li>Monitor supplier performance metrics and develop improvement initiatives.</li><li>Work closely with internal engineering, production, and procurement teams to ensure product specifications are met.</li></ul>WHO YOU ARE (Qualifications)Essential<ul><li>Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field.</li><li>Experience: Minimum 5 years in supplier quality management or related quality engineering roles. Experience in manufacturing or complex supply chains.</li><li>Skills & Competencies:<ul><li>Knowledge of quality standards (ISO 9001, IATF 16949, AS9100, UL or equivalent).</li><li>Strong analytical, problem-solving, and root cause analysis skills.</li><li>Proficiency with statistical process control (SPC) and quality tools (FMEA, 8D, PPAP).</li><li>Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.</li><li>Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.</li><li>Ability to work without close supervision.</li><li>Proficient at the use of MS office applications including Word, Excel, and Access.</li></ul></li></ul>Preferred<ul><li>Flexibility to work overtime, different shifts, travel on short notice required.</li><li>Understanding of Lean Manufacturing concepts and methods.</li><li>Understanding of quality tools and metrics.</li><li>ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) preferred.</li></ul>#LI-LP1 #LI-Onsite #findyourpath #fuelyourpassionVontier partners with you and your family on your health and wellness journey.
