About the Role

Early Career Teachers (ECTs) – Primary Intervention Teaching Roles | September 2026

Are you an Early Career Teacher (ECT) looking to gain valuable classroom experience before taking on the responsibilities of a full-time class teacher?

Would you like a role where you can develop your teaching skills with the support of an experienced class teacher, while making a real impact on pupils' progress?

Teaching Personnel is recruiting Early Career Teachers for classroom-based intervention roles within primary schools from September 2026.

These roles are ideal for ECTs who want to build confidence in the classroom while receiving ongoing support and guidance. Working alongside an experienced class teacher, you will initially help deliver targeted interventions to small groups of pupils working both above and below age-related expectations. As your confidence grows, you will take ownership of planning and delivering these intervention sessions independently, with continued support from the wider teaching team.

This is the perfect stepping stone for ECTs who aren't quite ready to take on the full responsibilities of class teaching but are keen to develop their planning, assessment and teaching skills in a supportive school environment.

The role will involve:

  • Delivering targeted interventions to small groups of pupils across EYFS, KS1 or KS2.
  • Supporting children working both above and below expected attainment levels.
  • Working closely with the class teacher to identify learning gaps and accelerate pupil progress.
  • Planning, delivering and evaluating intervention sessions, initially with guidance before progressing to independent planning.
  • Monitoring pupil progress and adapting learning to meet individual needs.
  • Building confidence in assessment, differentiation and classroom practice within a supportive environment.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold (or be due to receive) a UK-recognised teaching qualification with QTS.
  • Be an Early Career Teacher (ECT) looking to further develop their classroom practice.
  • Be passionate about helping every child reach their full potential.
  • Have a strong understanding of the primary curriculum.
  • Be organised, reflective and eager to develop professionally.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Be keen to take on increasing responsibility while benefiting from ongoing support and mentoring.

Why choose Teaching Personnel?

  • A supportive transition into your teaching career.
  • Classroom-based experience without the immediate pressure of full class teacher responsibilities.
  • Opportunities to develop planning, assessment and intervention strategies.
  • Guidance from experienced teachers and school leaders.
  • The chance to build confidence before progressing into a class teaching role.
  • Dedicated support from your Teaching Personnel consultant.
  • Competitive daily rates, with weekly pay.

If you're looking for a role that bridges the gap between training and becoming a full-time class teacher, this is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills, gain valuable experience and make a meaningful difference to pupils' learning.
