About the Role

Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) Sycamore Centre, Edinburgh Fixed Term 1 Year (Secondments considered) An exciting and unique opportunity has arisen for a Lead Trauma Therapist (Band 7) to work in the Sycamore Centre, part of Bairns’ Hoose, Edinburgh. We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Lead Clinician (NHS Band 7) to oversee and deliver the Sycamore Partnership’s developing Trauma Recovery Service, providing specialist early-stage trauma support to children and young people (0–18 years) and their non abusing parents or carers following their involvement in the Scottish Child Interview Model (SCIM). Based at the Sycamore Centre in Edinburgh, the post holder will play a key strategic role in shaping, delivering, and evaluating this newly expanding service, working within a unique multi agency partnership involving NHS Lothian, Police Scotland, local authorities, and third sector organisations. Bairns’ Hoose is a model of multi-agency and multi-disciplinary working, now developed in Scotland, which draws on the internationally recognised, evidence-based Icelandic Barnahus model for responding to reports or disclosures of harm or abuse in children. The Sycamore Partnership is a unique, trauma informed collaboration involving NHS Lothian, Police Scotland, City of Edinburgh Council, Midlothian Council and East Lothian Council. The Partnership was established to create a safe, child centred environment for Joint Investigative Interviews and therapeutic care. The successful candidate will demonstrate substantial expertise in sexual, physical, emotional and complex trauma, strong clinical leadership skills, and the ability to build collaborative, trauma informed pathways across health, social work, education, and justice settings. Prospective applicants must have experience of working with trauma presentations, including secondary traumatisation of parents/carers. Responsibilities include delivering Safety & Stabilisation interventions, providing trauma informed psychoeducation to children, young people and families, offering supervision to trauma practitioners, and contributing to service development, quality improvement, and integrated care planning. Prospective applicants must have a professional qualification and registration in a relevant field e.g. mental health nursing, social work, psychology, occupational therapy or arts therapies.
