About the Role

Regulatory & Permitting Advisor (TX & NM | Houston | Hybrid)

Overview

We are hiring a Regulatory & Permitting Advisor to help keep our onshore well activities moving smoothly through the right permits, reports, and compliance processes. Based in the Houston (Greenway) office, this role provides regulatory guidance and compliance assurance across Texas Railroad Commission (RRC), New Mexico Oil Conservation Division (OCD), and Bureau of Land Management (BLM) requirements—supporting drilling and operations teams with timely filings, clear interpretations of agency directives, and proactive agency engagement.


Required Skills

  • Strong Texas and New Mexico permitting and compliance experience
  • Minimum 7 years in upstream oil and gas
  • Regulatory analyst experience
  • Knowledge of state (TX & NM) and federal oil and gas regulations
  • Proven ability to file drilling, completion, workover, and plugging permits
  • Experience preparing and filing well testing, annual testing, and annual regulatory reports
  • Ability to resolve operation and production-related compliance issues, including inactive well compliance and violations
  • Track record of developing relationships with internal disciplines and external regulatory stakeholders
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel, Word, SharePoint, PowerPoint, and similar tools
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

Nice to Have Skills

  • Experience participating in industry workgroups that influence or improve internal compliance practices
  • Demonstrated ability to translate regulatory updates/directives into actionable guidance for operational teams
  • Experience with agency oversight processes supporting proactive compliance monitoring

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years upstream oil and gas experience, with a background in regulatory analysis (required)

  • Location: Houston, TX Greenway office
  • Schedule: 9/80 hybrid (working Tuesday–Thursday in office)
  • Duration: 12+ months

  • Target compensation: $87.00/hour
