What to expect from your residency?

The New Graduate Residency Program will provide education, support, guidance, and growth. Each resident receives a customizable education based on their learning needs. Professional development courses are imbedded into the program allowing you to grow in your career while being supported by a structured framework that has been proven to help nurses grow.

During residency, you will receive

Our residency offers a wide range of opportunities to learn in the following specialty areas:

• Critical and Acute Care: including intensive care settings such as ICU, medical‑surgical ICU, coronary care, and neonatal ICU, as well as emergency, trauma, and intermediate care units.
• Perioperative and Surgical Services: including the operating room, pre‑ and post‑operative care, surgical recovery, cardiothoracic and cardiac thoracic care, neurosciences, and orthopedic services.
• Cardiac and Pulmonary Care: with opportunities in cardiac telemetry, coronary care, and pulmonary and medical specialty units.
• Women’s and Newborn Services: including the Family Birthplace, labor and delivery, mother‑baby care, delivery room experiences, and neonatal intensive care.
• Medical and Specialty Care: spanning medical‑surgical units, oncology, medical rehabilitation, wound, skin, and ostomy care, and clinical decision units.

The Kettering Health Nurse Residency Program is a 12-month program, designed to fully immerse you in the course of study that best fits your goals.

Yes. You must have graduated from an accredited school of nursing (NLN, ACEN, or CCNE).

All new graduate nurses must be enrolled in the Nurse Residency Program. A new graduate nurse is defined by having less than 12 months experience or lack of experience is an acute care setting. Individual cases are reviewed for the appropriateness of program.
