TechConnect is seeking a Junior Technology Consultant to join our team in Grand Rapids, MI.
As a Junior Technology Consultant, this person will be expected to implement computer hardware & software projects, perform basic technology troubleshooting, follow security best-practices, and quickly learn about new technology solutions in order to effectively support TechConnect clients. This role will work closely with the TechConnect Technology Team.
The position is full-time (40 hours per week), with a starting salary range of $45,000 - $60,000 (depending on experience and skills).
- Provide general technology support for multiple clients using
Emails, Remote Support tools, Telephone, and Ticketing System.
- Collaborate with teammates using various communication platforms
and escalate issues when appropriate.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and solve technology issues across a
variety of systems & platforms.
- Proactively identify potential issues and inform the team before
they become major problems.
- Update, create, and maintain accurate documentation.
- Ensure all client hardware & software licensing is legal and
properly registered.
- Exhibit a “measure twice, cut once” (and also a “do it right the
first time”) mentality.
- Maintain a calm & composed demeanor, especially when under pressure.
- Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical people.
- Provide excellent customer service to our clients and maintain a
positive attitude with teammates.
- Study and obtain technology certifications (training will be provided).
- Conform to relevant legislation and TechConnect’s policies & procedures.
- Participate in occasional scheduled off-hours technology projects.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Pursuing (or has obtained) a Technology-related degree (or equivalent).
- Able to build a computer and install an Operating System.
- Experience with Microsoft Windows 7 and Windows 10/11.
- Experience with troubleshooting computer hardware & software issues.
- Experience with troubleshooting various printer models.
- Experience with troubleshooting Microsoft Office apps (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc).
- Able to quickly learn new technologies.
- Able to think quickly and develop potential solutions on-the-fly.
- Able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
- Attention to detail.
- 2+ years working in the IT industry.
- 1+ years of IT Consulting experience.
- Pursuing (or has obtained) a Network Engineering or Network Security degree (or equivalent).
- Certifications:
CompTIA: A+, Network+, Security+
Microsoft, Cisco, Fortinet, Google. - Able to build/crimp a network cable.
- Experience with Ticketing Systems and Remote Support tools.
- Experience with Apple/Macs, Linux, and Google Chromebooks.
- Experience with configuration, setup, and troubleshooting of Network (wired and wireless) equipment.
- Experience with configuration, setup, and troubleshooting of Servers and Virtual Machines.
- Experience with Microsoft Active Directory (or Azure AD / Entra) domains.
- Experience with VoIP phone systems.
- Exhibit good security awareness and be familiar with security best-practices.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Lift heavy objects (up to 25 lbs unassisted, 50+ lbs assisted).
- Stand, sit, and walk for extended periods of time.
- Have a reliable Internet connection for remote work.
- Use computers and telephones for extended periods of time.
- Have a reliable form of transportation and be able to travel as needed.
- Living in (or be willing to relocate to) the West Michigan area.
- Be a US Citizen and/or eligible to work in the United States.
- Able to pass a Background Check and Drug Test.
- Provide a Resume and 2-3 References.
