Maintenance Engineer – Food Manufacturing

Location: Nottingham
Salary: £54,000 basic
Shifts: 4 on 4 off – 2 days / 2 nights

DR Newitt is working with a leading food manufacturing business supplying major UK retailers to recruit a Maintenance Engineer for one of their fast-paced production facilities in Nottingham.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established Engineering team within a high-volume FMCG environment. The business is looking for a multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer who can support both reactive and planned maintenance activity while helping drive equipment reliability and production performance across site.

The role operates on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern covering 2 days and 2 nights, offering a strong salary package alongside long-term stability within a growing manufacturing business.

Reporting into the Engineering Manager, you will work closely with the wider Engineering team to ensure machinery downtime is minimised and production efficiency is maintained across the factory.

Key Responsibilities:

Carry out planned and reactive maintenance
Support breakdown response and fault finding across manufacturing equipment to minimise downtime and maintain production output.

Work across mechanical and electrical maintenance
Provide multi-skilled engineering support across machinery and site equipment as required.

Support continuous improvement activity
Assist with improving machinery reliability, reducing recurring faults and increasing operational efficiency.

Maintain high engineering and safety standards
Ensure all maintenance work is completed safely and in line with site procedures and compliance standards.

Work closely with production and engineering teams
Collaborate effectively with colleagues across site to ensure smooth day-to-day operations within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

What We’re Looking For:

Multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer preferred
Ideally electrically biased or genuinely multi-skilled with experience across both reactive and planned maintenance.

Engineering qualification required
NVQ Level 3 minimum in Engineering or Apprentice trained.

Food or FMCG manufacturing background
Previous experience working within food manufacturing or a similar fast-paced FMCG environment is highly desirable.

Strong fault-finding ability
Comfortable working under pressure and responding quickly to production breakdowns.

Team player with a proactive attitude
Able to work effectively within an established Engineering function and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
